I’m a scientist at heart and a machine learning engineer by trade, with a habit of asking “why does this work?” before asking “how do we ship it?” My background is in theoretical physics — I completed my PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam, Germany — but the pull of complex real-world problems eventually brought me to AI and ML.

Before moving into the VR space, I spent several years at ariadne.ai working at the intersection of deep learning and biomedical imaging, where I developed segmentation models for cell and tissue analysis and led projects spanning statistical modelling of high-dimensional spatial data — work that shipped as production features in a commercial SaaS platform.

Today, at Oculera, I contribute across a wide variety of tasks as the principal ML engineer: driving the scientific strategy, designing clinical studies, and building the full data and modelling stack behind our next-generation VR-based screening tools for neurological and developmental conditions.
